Bantwal, April 03:
When health workers are toiling round the clock in the fight against COVID-19, sadly there are incidents of assault and threat to them.

On the day when attack on ASHA worker in Bengaluru made headlines, a similar case was booked at Bantwal in Dakshina Kannada district.

A press communique from the police department stated that on April 1 ASHA worker Tulasi had called Nithesh of Kinnibettu village and Jayanth of Kalai village in Bantwal Taluk who had recently returned from abroad and inquired about their health.

The health department makes it mandatory for the ASHA workers to regularly collect data and details about the foreign returnees and their health condition and Tulasi too was doing the same.

In the evening around 6 pm, Tulasi received a phone call from Nithesh’s relatives Marappa Poojary and Umesh who threatened her.

Based on the complaint, a  case was registered at the Bantwal Town police station on the next day.
Police have arrested the two accused.
