Udupi City Municipality announces revised property tax payment
Udupi, March 12, 2026: Property tax in the Udupi City Municipality limits has been increased by 3 per cent for the financial year 2026–27, following a decision taken by the municipal administrator’s meeting, according to an official release from the Udupi City Municipality Commissioner’s Office.
The revision has been made as the market value within the municipal limits has not been reassessed. Accordingly, building and vacant site owners as well as occupants within the municipality will have to pay property tax for 2026–27 with a 3 per cent increase over the 2025–26 tax amount.
Taxpayers who clear their property tax between April 1 and April 30 will be eligible for a 5 per cent rebate. Payments made between May 1 and June 30 will be accepted without any penalty.
However, if the tax is paid after July 1, a 2 per cent penalty per month will be levied on the outstanding amount. Property owners who have pending dues from the current or previous years have been urged to clear them with the applicable 2 per cent penalty.
The municipal authorities have appealed to property owners and occupants to pay their taxes promptly and cooperate in the overall development of Udupi, the release added.
