Red Alert in Dakshina Kannada; Holiday Declared for Schools and PUC on July 25
Mangaluru, July 24, 2025: With heavy rainfall continuing across Dakshina Kannada district and more showers expected in the coming days, the Deputy Commissioner has declared a red alert.
The order In stated that the region has received very heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours, prompting the administration to initiate emergency precautionary measures.
As a key step, a holiday has been declared on Friday, July 25, for all Anganwadi centres, primary and high schools, and pre-university colleges, including government, aided, and private institutions. The district administration has urged parents to ensure children stay away from water-logged low-lying areas, lakes, riverbanks, and seashores. Fishermen have been strictly advised not to venture into the sea under any circumstances.
All district and taluk-level officers have been instructed to remain at their headquarters and be fully prepared for disaster response. Nodal officers appointed across various regions have been directed to stay vigilant, respond promptly to public complaints, and remain in constant communication with the district control room.
Tourists and the general public have also been advised to avoid riverbanks and seashores until the situation improves. Departmental officials have been instructed to establish relief centres in every taluk and maintain a high level of readiness.
