Karavali Utsav Logo Launched, Festival Countdown Begins
Mangaluru, Dec 18, 2024: After a long hiatus, Karavali Utsav is set to make a grand comeback, bringing with it the vibrancy, flavors, and traditions that define the spirit of coastal Karnataka. From December 21, 2024, to January 19, 2025, Mangaluru will transform into a cultural hub, offering a month-long celebration of food, art, and heritage that promises something special for everyone.
Unveiling the logo of the festival, District In-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao expressed his excitement about the cultural extravaganza. Minister Rao, along with Assembly Speaker UT Khader and other leaders, participated in the event virtually.
A Grand Start to the Festivities
The festival begins on December 21 with a colorful procession starting at 4:00 PM from Canara College, Kodialbail, to the Karavali Utsav Grounds. The streets will come alive with performers in traditional attire, showcasing the region’s vibrant heritage, culminating in the grand inaugural ceremony at 5:30 PM.
The first two days will feature mesmerizing cultural performances by renowned artists, offering audiences a glimpse into the rich artistic traditions of the coastal region.
Global Village: A Celebration of Tradition
The Global Village exhibition promises to be a highlight, bringing together artisans, weavers, and craftsmen to showcase their traditional skills. With sections dedicated to tribal art, handmade crafts, and cultural displays, visitors will get a chance to experience the essence of Karavali’s lifestyle.
“This exhibition isn’t just about crafts—it’s about telling the stories of our people, their lives, and their heritage,” said one of the event organizers.
Coastal Cuisine to Tantalize Taste Buds
The Coastal Food Festival is another key attraction, featuring a wide variety of dishes that highlight the unique flavors of the region. From spicy fish curries to traditional sweets, the festival offers visitors a chance to savor the authentic tastes of Tulu Nadu.
Beach Extravaganza and Family Fun
On December 28 and 29, Tannirbhavi Beach will host a lively Beach Utsav, featuring yoga sessions, Zumba aerobics, and beach sports. The event will also feature a special performance by Raghu Dixit and his band on December 28 at 8:00 PM, promising an unforgettable evening of music and entertainment.
For families, the festival offers amusement parks, games, and activities catering to all age groups, making it a perfect outing for creating cherished memories.

The festival continues with exciting events like automobile and dog shows at Kadri Park on January 4 and 5, a Youth Festival on January 11 and 12, and the grand International Kite Festival at Tannirbhavi Beach on January 18 and 19.
