Honoring Legacy: Sri Sujnanendra Tirtha Swamiji’s ‘Geetamritasara’ Reprint Released
Udupi, Dec 18, 2024: In a grand celebration held during the ongoing Geetotsava at the Paryaya Puthige Sri Krishna Matha, Paryaya Pontiff Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji unveiled the reprinted edition of the rare and revered book Geetamritasara. Originally published in 1961, the book is based on the Gita Bhashya of Acharya Madhwa and authored by his guru, Sri Sujnanendra Tirtha Swamiji.
In his address, Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji reminisced about the immense wisdom, thirst for knowledge, and expertise in Ayurveda exhibited by Sri Sujnanendra Tirtha Swamiji.
On this occasion, Dr. N.B. Vijay Ballal, the Dharmadarshi of Ambalapadi Janardhana Mahakali Temple and a relative of Sri Sujnanendra Tirtha Swamiji in his pre-monastic days, was honored with the ‘Sri Krishna Geetanugraha Award.’ Dr. Ballal fondly recalled his experiences of serving Sri Sujnanendra Tirtha Swamiji as his physician and shared how the Swamiji often spoke appreciatively of Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji during those interactions.
Junior seer Sri Sushreendra Tirtha Swamiji graced the event with his presence.
Another recipient of the ‘Sri Krishna Geetanugraha Award’ was Dr. Ramakrishna Ramachandra Suri, who has taught the Bhagavad Gita to many students over the years.
An insightful lecture was delivered by Hejamadi Sudhindra Acharya, a relative of Sri Sujnanendra Tirtha Swamiji in his pre-monastic life. Om Prakash Bhat, the editor of the reprinted book, elaborated on its contents and the life of the author.
The event was coordinated and compered by Mahitosh Acharya of Sri Matha. Diwan of the Matha, Nagraj Acharya, and International Secretary Prasannacharya were present.
