Mangaluru, Dec 13, 2024: The much-awaited Karavali Utsav is set to captivate audiences this year with a lineup of vibrant cultural and natural attractions. Speaker U.T. Khader and District In-Charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao have instructed officials to prioritize programs that draw greater public participation.

Participating in a meeting through video conference from Belagavi’s Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, Speaker Khader urged officials to include local cultural performances and collaborate with regional academies to enrich the event. He emphasized the importance of engaging programs that reflect the region’s heritage and bring the community together.

Beach Festival will be held at Panambur on December 28-29, a Youth Festival at Kadri Park on January 4-5, a Kite Festival on January 18-19, and a River Festival in Harekala. 

Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao stressed that after a long gap, the Karavali Utsav must stand out with its cultural and natural appeal. He advised organizing unique programs like exhibitions and performances that would attract visitors while also working to ensure adequate local resources for the event. He assured support from the Departments of Tourism and Kannada & Culture for funding.

Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan M.P. announced that the Karavali Utsav will commence on December 21 with an inaugural ceremony and exhibition at the Utsav Grounds. Following this, a Beach Festival will be held at Panambur on December 28-29, a Youth Festival at Kadri Park on January 4-5, a Kite Festival on January 18-19, and a River Festival in Harekala. Collaborative cultural programs involving Tulu, Beary, and Konkani academies are also in the pipeline.

Puttur MLA Ashok Kumar Rai suggested incorporating eco-friendly initiatives, such as a plant exhibition, into the festival.

The meeting was attended by Zilla Panchayat CEO Dr. Anand K, Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner C.L. Anand, Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. G. Santosh Kumar, MUDA Commissioner Noorjahan, and other officials.
