Konkan Railway Observes World Environment Day – 2024
Udupi, June 05, 2024: Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) marked World Environment Day with a series of impactful green initiatives, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to environmental sustainability. By planting 5,000 saplings KRCL aims to contribute to the enhancement of the environment and the beautification of the railway network.
This year’s activities are particularly crucial given the alarming rise in heat levels, highlighting the urgent need for collective environmental conservation efforts. By planting these saplings, Konkan Railway seeks to mitigate the effects of climate change and promote a healthier, greener planet.
A significant tree plantation drive was held at Konkan Rail Vihar in Seawoods, Navi Mumbai, symbolizing a major step towards environmental conservation. The event featured the esteemed Chief Guest, Shri B. Venugopal Reddy, IAS, Principal Secretary (Forest), Maharashtra, and Guests of Honour, Shri Vivek Khandekar, IFS, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Pune, and Ms. K. Pratibha, Chief Conservator of Forest, Thane. Shri Santosh Kumar Jha, CMD of KRCL, along with executives, Mahila Samiti members, and staff, actively participated in the tree plantation drive.
