Orange Alert Issued for Coastal Districts as IMD Forecasts Heavy Rains and Winds
Karwar, September 29, 2023: In response to a prevailing depression, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Coastal Karnataka districts until 8.30 AM on September 30. Anticipating significant winds and rainfall, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has activated emergency measures to ensure public safety.
Orange alert has been issued for Udupi and Uttara Kannada till Sept 30 morning.
Parents are urged to supervise their children and prohibit them from accessing low-lying areas, lakes, and riverbanks with water accumulation. Fishermen are strongly advised to refrain from venturing into the sea for fishing activities. District-level officials are instructed to be on high alert and stationed at central positions.
