Delay in Jal Jeevan Mission Works Unacceptable: Dr Anandh K
Mangaluru, July 13, 2023: Dr. Anand, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat, emphasized the importance of timely completion of the Jal Jeevan Mission, a significant initiative aimed at providing round-the-clock drinking water supply to rural households in the district.
During a review meeting held at the mini auditorium of Zilla Panchayat on July 13, Dr. Anand issued a stern warning to the authorities involved, urging them to avoid any delays in the project.
As the rainy season approaches, it is imperative to acknowledge that the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission should not be hindered by such factors. The tender process has been finalized, and therefore, the implementation of the project must be expedited without any further delay, Dr. Anand asserted.
He pointed out that 36 works had already exceeded the stipulated time frame due to various reasons. The tender terms had taken into account all the necessary factors, including technical and weather considerations, to ensure timely completion of the works.
Dr. Anand firmly stated that any delays in the project would not be tolerated and the reasons for each delayed work should be provided in writing.
He informed that the Jal Jeevan Mission aimed to provide water connections to a total of 3,34,185 households within the Zilla Panchayat limits. Currently, 2,90,583 houses already have access to water supply, while the remaining 43,602 houses are at various stages of pending water connection work.
During the meeting, it was mentioned under the Gobar Dhan Yojana of the Swachh Bharat Mission two units have been constructed in Belthangady and Kadaba taluks. Additionally, a budget of Rs. 11.93 lakh had been allocated for the proposed in Badagannur gram panchayat of Puttur Taluk. Naveen, the project officer, informed the attendees that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and estimates had been prepared and awaited approval.
Kempegowda, the Joint Director of the Agriculture Department, and officials from the relevant departments were present.
