Udupi DC Ensures Law and Order for Bakrid Celebrations
Udupi, June 26, 2023: Udupi Deputy Commissioner, Kurma Rao M, has issued directives to the officials concerned, urging them to take necessary measures to maintain law and order during the Bakrid celebrations across the district.
Chairing a virtual meeting of the district committee established to prevent unauthorized slaughter and transportation of cattle during Bakrid, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the formation of teams under the Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act.
Officials were advised to ensure that cattle are not transported without proper authorization at the various check posts across the district. In the event of any untoward incidents, appropriate actions should be taken promptly.
Instructing the officials of the concerned department to safeguard the cattle in designated gaushalas in the event of seizure, the Deputy Commissioner urged the public to promptly report any such cases to the nearest police station.
The meeting was attended by Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Prasanna H, District Superintendent of Police Akshay M Hake, Kundapur Sub-Divisional Officer Rashmi S.R, Municipal Commissioner Ramesh Nayak, Deputy Director of the Animal Husbandry Department Dr. Shankar Shetty, Tahsildars from various taluks, district-level implementing officers, and others.
