Udupi District Police and KMC hold traffic police and drivers first responders training workshop
Udupi, May 302, 2023: The Centre for Clinical and Innovative Forensics (CCIF) and the Department of Emergency Medicine at KMC Manipal organized the Traffic Police & Drivers First Responders Training Workshop in collaboration with the Udupi District Police.
Held at Dr. TMA Pai Hall 1 on May 30th, the event brought together esteemed guests and experts who emphasized the significance of such initiatives.
Hakay Akshay Machhindra, Superintendent of Police, Udupi District was the Chief Guest.
In his address the SP highlighted the paramount importance of these training programs in bolstering road safety and equipping traffic police and drivers with the necessary skills to effectively respond during emergencies.
Recognizing the critical role played by traffic police and drivers in ensuring public safety on the roads, he emphasized the need for continuous training to address the evolving challenges of road management and emergency response. He expressed gratitude to MAHE and KMC for this essential initiative.
Dr. Sharath K Rao, Pro Vice Chancellor (Health Sciences), was the Guest of Honour.
He shared profound insights and underscored Manipal Academy of Higher Education’s unwavering commitment to spearheading impactful activities for years to come. Dr. Rao acknowledged MAHE’s longstanding dedication to advancing healthcare education, research, and community engagement. He expressed gratitude to the Udupi Police, CCIF, and the Department of Emergency Medicine for their collaborative efforts in driving this crucial endeavor forward.
During his keynote address, Dr. Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent of Kasturba Hospital Manipal, acknowledged the Udupi District Police for their commitment to maintaining law and order, ensuring public safety, and actively participating in initiatives that enhance community well-being.
The participants of the workshop received comprehensive training encompassing various areas, including first aid techniques, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), accident management, and other essential skills crucial for immediate response in road accidents and emergency situations. The workshop provided an interactive platform for participants to learn from experienced professionals, exchange best practices, and enhance their abilities to mitigate risks and provide critical assistance at accident sites.
Dr. Padmaraj Hegde, Dean of KMC Manipal, welcomed the gathering. Dr. Freston Marc Sirur, Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Kasturba Hospital Manipal, provided an overview of the workshop, while Dr. Vinod Nayak, Coordinator of CCIF at KMC Manipal, delivered the vote of thanks.
