Theft case: Four including ex-serviceman arrested
Mangaluru, Sept 22: Four, including an ex-serviceman were arrested by the Mangaluru City Police in connection to a theft case at Surathkal.
On August 17, Vidya Prabhu who owns a house at Jardin Apartment in Idya Surathkal complained to the police about the theft in her vacant apartment. The thieves had entered the house through the balcony and stole ₹ 51 lakh and 224-gram gold. The owner of the house owns a petrol bunk.
The police who registered a case began the investigation. During the probe, it was revealed that some within the apartment were involved in this. Police have now arrested four allgedly involved in this case and are in search of two others.
Giving details about the incident, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Vikash Kumar Vikash said that Naveen, Raghu, Amesh, and Santhosh were arrested in connection to the theft case.
The police team probing the case found that Naveen, who worked at a local wine shop as a managed was also the secretary of the apartment association. He had an idea about the visits of Vidya Prabhu and knew that the house was vacant most of the time. Naveen is an ex-serviceman.
He allegedly hatched a plan with others.
Raghu and Amesh are from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Santhosh, who hails from Belthangady works in a wine shop as a waiter.
The police have recovered the gold completely. However, the accused had allegedly spent about half the cash. The police succeeded in recovering ₹ 30.85 lakh from them.
