People from other districts entering Uttara Kannada to be home quarantined for 14 days
Karwar, April 13: After keeping a tab on the foreign returnees, the Uttara Kannada district administration has now decided to ensure that the people from outside districts do not spread COVID-19.
Bhatkal in Uttara Kannada had recorded 9 COVID-19 positive cases and in the last one week, there has been no positive case in the district.
Now that all the foreign returns have completed the quarantine period, the aim is now to ensure that COVID-19 does not turn into community spread.
In Uttara Kannada district, the officials are now keeping a watch on the people from the outside district.
“Anybody entering our district has to undergo health checkup at our Fever Clinics. Those who undergo checkup there will get the COVID hand seal mentioning of 14 days home quarantine,” Deputy Commissioner Dr. K Harish Kumar told The Canara Post.
As a vehicle enters the district border, officials at the checkpoint would direct it to the nearby fever clinic and everybody in the vehicle has to undergo health checkups.
In the circular issued on April 13, the DC has stated that if a person is not willing to be at Home quarantine, the district administration would make arrangements in the government quarantine facility.
All the Tahsildars of the bordering Taluks have been asked to submit details of every vehicle that enters the district along with other details like the vehicle, pass, and persons.
The DC said that any person who takes a pass from the district administration to go out of the district on emergency work too would have to undergo the same process of fever clinic and home quarantine when he enters the district border on his way back home.
Officials said that this step would not just help in ensuring the safety of the people in the district but also in stopping the misuse of the passes.
