COVID-19: 204 new cases including a policeman in Udupi
Udupi: The COVID graph showed a steep increase in Udupi district with a record of 204 patients testing positive in the district on Friday.
The state saw 505 new cases according to the Friday bulletin.
“More than 2000 samples were tested and as a result 204 positive tested today. Of these 203 are from Maharashtra and one is a policeman working at the check post,” Udupi DC G Jagadeesha said.
“Of these 157 are men, 40 women, and 7 children. All will be sent to designated hospitals for treatment. We have almost completed testing the samples of the 8,500 people who had come to the district from outside. Once this is completed the number of positive will decrease in the district,” the DC assured.
“After that, we will intensify Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) surveillance in the state to identify the cases,” he added.
The total number of positive cases in Udupi is 768 of which 685 are active.
Meanwhile, Dakshina Kannada reported 8 cases of which 7 are Maharashtra returnees.
The 7 positives in Uttara Kannada district too are from Maharashtra.
