BSNL Non-Permanent workers union demands 14 months pending salary
Karwar: The BSNL Non-Permanent workers union has written to BSNL Chief General Manager in Bengaluru to release their salary pending for the past 14 months.
“We are contract laborers working in the BSNL for 24 years. We have served the department honestly and sincerely. Though our department contract changes every year we strictly adhere to the department work. We have been paid regularly every month along with the EPF facility. But since the last 14 months (April 2019) the said organisation has not paid our salary,” the letter by BSNL Non-Permanent workers union Karwar stated.
“Though we requested many times to the concerned authorities we have not been paid a single rupee. We have worked even during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are in great trouble and finding it very difficult to manage our family. Many of us have borrowed loans from different sources. And now it is a very tough time for us to survive,” the leaders narrated in the letter.
“It is also learned that you have arranged for tender to somebody. If it is true then we should get the first preference. Since our financial condition is too bad we request you to kindly release the payment at the earliest,” the letter added.
