Belthangady: It was an initiative to promote paddy cultivation using modern technology at Dharmasthala on Monday.
Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, known for its various initiatives to help the people of rural areas, held a demonstration of mechanized paddy cultivation on Monday at the ten-acre land area near Sahyadri Residency in Dharmasthala.
Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr. D Veerendra Heggade flagged-off the demonstration.
This is the first time mechanized agriculture has been adopted at such a large scale in Dharmasthala.

Mechanized paddy cultivation at Dharmasthala 
Mechanization in agriculture has turned to be a boon for farmers, especially the paddy cultivators. The shortage of laborers and the high cost of cultivation had made many farmers leave their land barren. Officials and progressive farmers are trying their best to promote the mechanized system. 
The mechanized paddy farming at Dharmasthala is likely to encourage people to use modern technology in farming. 
During the demonstration the farmers were informed that they can get high yields and profit from automation.
Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP), aims to promote mechanized paddy cultivation in one lakh hectares in the current year.
