Gold hidden in toys and trimmer seized at Airport

Mangaluru, April 19, 2021: They looked like ordinary toys, trimmer, and water disperser. But they were ‘costly,’ ones as gold was hidden in them.

Mangaluru Air Customs officials who got a tipoff searched a person and seized gold worth ₹14.55 lakh from these materials yesterday.

Officials said that a passenger- Arish from Bantwal was intercepted and examined. He had disembarked the Spicejet flight SG 146 that arrived from Dubai.

He allegedly tried to smuggle gold by concealing in toys, trimmer, water dispenser, and juicer. Gold of net weight 300 grams valued at ₹ 14.55 lakhs has been seized.

Further investigation and proceedings in accordance with the law is under progress.
