Manipal Institute of Technology campus declared containment zone
Udupi, March 17, 2021: Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) has been declared containment zone by Udupi district administration.
Officials said that of the total cases on Wednesday, 27 were from the MIT-MAHE campus.

“In whole MIT Manipal Campus area is considered as Containment Zone and 200 meters radius from the containment zone is considered as a buffer zone,” Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh, who is also the Chairperson of District Disaster Management Authority stated in the order.
For effective implementation of COVID-19 control measures, Kundapur AC Raju K has been appointed incident commander.
“The incident commander will take necessary actions as specified in the Containment Zone notification and the movement of students within the campus can be allowed with norms which are explained as in MHA guidelines,” he added.

Faculty and essential duty staff of the MIT campus are allowed with proper pass/identification.
Exit and entry gate for Trishanku Nagara will be closed temporarily until containment zone denotification. Entry and exit of Paivtra Nagar residents through the MIT campus are allowed with proper pass/identification.
Meanwhile in communication, MIT director stated that the MAHE administration has decided to conduct all theory classes in online mode and defer the laboratory, practical classes, contact classes to a later date.
“Pending end semester examination of first semester B.Tech will be rescheduled to a later date,” the letter added.
