Three students of Yenepoya College arrested for ragging juniors
Mangaluru, March 05, 2021: Cracking the whip on students involved in ragging, Mangaluru City Police arrested three students of Yenepoya College for ragging their juniors.
Police chief N Shashi Kumar said that on March 4 evening around 5.30 pm three second-year students of Yenepoya College entered the house where nine first-year students were residing at Pumpwell.
The three- Mohammed Aadil (20), Mohammed Nizamuddin (20), Rizin Riyas (20) entered the house and asked the juniors to shave their head and beard. The three also made the juniors prepare tea and later threatened them.
Based on the complaint filed by a first-year student a case has been registered at Kankanady station under IPC section 448 (house trace pass), 504 (insult, provocation causing damage to public peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) along with 34 (common intention) and Section 116 (ragging) of the Karnataka Education Act.
All the three accused students are from Kerala and have been arrested. While Aadil is a second-year BCom student, Rizin is a second-year BBA student. Nizamuddin is a BSC HS student.
