Govt clarifies on BPL card eligibility

Mangaluru, Feb 16, 2021: Clarifying on the eligibility for BPL card, the district administration has asked others to return their card and get APL card by February end.

In a press statement, the Deputy Commissioner has warned legal action against the violators.

• The following are not eligible to have BPL cards:
• Government employees, all private employees, government-aided employees, those working at board, corporation, government undertaking units, and those who pay Income Tax, Service Tax, GST.
• Who owns 3-hectare dry land or equivalent irrigational land
• Who own more than 1,000 sq feet Pakka house in Urban areas.
• Who owns a four-wheeler (except one vehicle like a tractor, maxicab, taxi for livelihood).
• Retired employees and families whose annual income is more than 1.20 lakh.
• Those families that own more than one BPL card.
