Bantwal, Feb 03, 2021: The death of a 72-year-old woman could have remained a case of Unnatural Death. But the Bantwal Rural police who probed the case have concluded it to be a murder and arrested three.

Police investigation has indicated that the old woman was killed by the caretaker for her gold!

72-year-old Benedict Carlo was a resident of Ammunje village of Bantwal Taluk. As children are not here, they had appointed, a caretaker to look after her.

Everything was fine when Benedict was found dead on January 26. But the reason was not clear. The Bantwal police had filed Unnatural Death Report (UDR).

The family suspected the death of the old woman and on February 2 her son came to the Police Station and raised suspicion about the death. There was suspicion about the incident being murder for gain as some gold in the house was missing.

Based on his complaint the police booked a case under IPC Section 302 (Murder), 392 (Robbery) along with 3 (act by several persons with common intention).
The rural police who went deep into the case concluded this to be murder for gain.

They arrested Elma (25), the caretaker, a resident of Amtadi village in Bantwal. Police said that she along with Charan and Sathish of Narikombu village had killed Benedict Carlo.

On January 25 they had allegedly suffocated the old lady with the pillow and killed her for the gold at home.

All the three are arrested and produced before the Court. The 98-gram gold has been seized.
