Udupi, Jan 15, 2021: ‘Churnotsava,’ marking the conclusion of annual ‘Saptotsava,’ was held with traditional pomp and gaiety at Udupi Sri Krishna Matha on Friday.

Suvarnotsava or Churnotsava is held in the morning, a day after Makara Sankranthi.

The Utsava Murthis (idols) of Sri Krishna and Mukhyaprana were brought in the golden palanquin near Brahma Ratha.

Paryaya Peetadhipathi Sri Eeshapriya Tirtha Sripadaru, Adamaru Matha senior peetadhipathi Sri Vishwapriya Tirtha Sripadaru along with
Sri Vidya Sagara Tirtha Sripadaru (Krishnapura Matha), Sri Vidyadheesha Tirtha Sripadaru (Palimaru Matha senior pontiff), Sri Vishwaprasanna Tirtha Sripadaru (Pejawara Matha), Sri Vidyavallabha Tirtha Sripadaru (Kaniyoor Matha), Sri Vishwavallabha Tirtha (Sode Matha), Sri Vidyarajeshwara Tirtha (Palimaru Matha junior pontiff) ascended the chariot.

After the Pooja, the Swamijis distributed coins, sweets, and fruits to the devotees gathered around the Ratha. Later they joined the devotees in pulling the chariot.

The Utsava Murthis were then taken for the ‘Avabritha Snana,’ or the grand holy bath at Madhwa Sarovara.

After all the celebration, devotees were served food as part of ‘Anna Santharpane.’
