Escape in theft case ends after eight years
Udupi, Dec 18, 2020: The theft that took place eight years ago has almost vanished from the memory of the people. But the alert police have succeeded in cracking the case now.
While the Investigating Officer (IO) had filed a C summary report, the successive officials continued to be alert. Finally, their alertness led to a tipoff that cracked the case that took place in 2012.
Background of the case:
The case dates back to July 2012. Between July 24, 2012, 10 am and July 25, 2 pm thieves entered the house of one Parvin Babu of Kote in Mallar village.
They had stolen golden ornaments worth ₹ 2 lakh that were placed in a cupboard of a bedroom. From another room, they stole a Stove Box, utensils, door locks, and other materials worth ₹50,000.
A case was filed at Kaup police station under IPC Section 454, 457 (Lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night to commit offense) and 380 (theft in a house).
The case was not traceable then, the then Investigation Officer (IO) had filed a C summary report.
Now, after eight years, the police officials received a major tipoff in connection to the case. Based on credible information police officials questioned Abdul Sattar (38) of Mallar, the same village where the theft took place.
Police said that Abdul Sattar confessed the theft. He also revealed that he and Abdul Rehman Fakruddin alias Rahim (49) executed the theft.
Police have arrested both the accused and recovered the golden necklace and bangles worth ₹1.92 lakh.
