Industrial sector offers immense opportunities for women, says Devadas Shetty
Belthangady, May 28, 2026: Vice-President of Schneider Electric Foundation of India, Devadas Shetty, said women today have immense opportunities in the industrial sector, but the number of women showing interest in the field remains low.
He was speaking after inaugurating the renovated industrial integrated equipment workshop centre at SDM Industrial Training Institute in Venoor on Tuesday.
Mr. Shetty said that from next year, women interested in starting new ventures in the industrial sector will be provided 21 days of free training in Bengaluru through the foundation. He also assured that girl students would be encouraged through special scholarships from the organisation.
On the occasion, toolkits were distributed to 50 students by the company. DGM of the company Prashant Shetty extended greetings.
Presiding over the programme, D. Harshendra Kumar, Secretary of SDM Educational Institutions, urged students to make the best use of every opportunity available to them and build a bright future. He advised students to remain actively engaged in learning and self-development and said skill development should go hand in hand with earning opportunities.
Principal of the institution Vishweshwara Prasad welcomed the gathering. Ramachandra Shetty proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Padmaprasad B.
