Khader calls on youth to uphold Constitutional values

Mangaluru, Nov. 26, 2025: Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader on Wednesday said the youth must understand the Constitution and commit themselves to nation-building. He was speaking after inaugurating the Constitution Day programme organised at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bhavan by the district administration, Zilla Panchayat, Mangaluru City Corporation and the Social Welfare Department.
Khader said only those who understand history can create history, and stressed that today’s youth must develop leadership rooted in constitutional principles. Reading the works of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi, and understanding the ideas enshrined in the Constitution, was essential for strengthening democracy, he noted. Ambedkar’s Constitution has empowered even the most marginalised citizen to travel freely across the country, he said, urging citizens to remain committed to constitutional values and guide others who deviate from them.
Delivering a lecture, Raghuraj Kadri, Principal of Gokarnanatheshwara PU College, said the Constitution was crafted to eliminate fear and ensure equality without barriers of caste, religion or community. Youth must understand the transformation the country has undergone before and after the Constitution, he said.
Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat CEO Naravade Vinayak Karbari and Mangaluru Assistant Commissioner Meenakshi Arya attended the event. Tulu Sahitya Academy Chairman Taranath Gatti presided. Additional DC Raju K. read the Preamble. Dr. B.S. Hemalatha welcomed, Suresh Adiga proposed the vote of thanks, and Pradeep D.M. Havanji compered.
