Mangaluru, Sept. 15, 2025: The upcoming Social and Educational Survey being conducted by the Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission will cover people of all castes, communities, and religions, said District In-charge Secretary Tulasi Maddineni.

Speaking after reviewing the preparatory arrangements for the survey at the Netravati Hall of the Zilla Panchayat on Monday, she said every household would be included in the exercise. Stickers have already been pasted on houses, and based on this, the survey will be conducted with GPS-linked data collection. Enumerators will visit each household and collect details through a mobile app. Information will be gathered through 60 specific questions, she added.

The survey will cover a wide range of details, including family education status, marital status, government benefits received, employment, political representation, land ownership, agriculture and livestock, drinking water, housing, toilets, and other aspects. “This will be a comprehensive survey that will provide the government with reliable data on the current social and educational conditions of all communities. The findings will serve as a crucial input in policymaking and the implementation of various welfare schemes,” Maddineni explained.

She clarified that there would be no controversial questions in the survey. Each household survey is expected to take around 40 minutes, with enumerators covering about 10 houses per day. Teachers and staff from various government departments will be deployed for the exercise. She urged people to cooperate by providing accurate information when enumerators visit their homes.

Deputy Commissioner H.V. Darshan, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Narwade Vinayak Karbari, Additional DC Raju K., Mangaluru Sub-Divisional Officer Meenakshi Arya, and other officials were present at the meeting.
