Udupi, July 24, 2025: The state government’s five guarantee schemes have helped reduce the hardships faced by the common people and have provided support for a more secure life, said Ashok Kodavoor, Chairman of the District Guarantee Schemes Implementation Committee.

He was speaking at a district-level review meeting of the Guarantee Schemes Implementation Committee, held at Dr. V.S. Acharya Auditorium, Zilla Panchayat, Manipal. Kodavoor emphasized that these schemes, launched two years ago, have been consistently reaching beneficiaries, with a budget allocation of ₹51,034 crore this year alone. He urged all departments to ensure the benefits reach every eligible individual.

Addressing grievances, he said that officials must act swiftly if beneficiaries face any issues. Some complaints have been received regarding non-receipt of ₹2,000 under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme for one or two months. Officials concerned have been directed to address them promptly.

He also highlighted the need to resume KSRTC bus services to rural areas that were suspended during the COVID-19 period. These services are essential for school and college students and daily commuters. The Regional Transport Department and KSRTC must work together to restore them quickly, he said.

Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Panchayat, Prateek Boyle, noted that Udupi district leads in women’s empowerment. The Gruha Lakshmi scheme, part of the five guarantees, aims to support women towards economic self-reliance. He encouraged beneficiaries to form self-help groups and take up allied activities like dairy farming, poultry, and small civil works with the government’s support.

During the meeting, a concern was raised regarding the lack of a fair price shop in Horalady village of Brahmavar taluk, affecting over 250 households. Responding to this, officials from the Food and Civil Supplies Department said steps would be taken to open a ration shop in the area based on beneficiary numbers.

A poster for the special registration campaign under the Yuva Nidhi scheme was also released at the event.

Several committee members and officials at both district and taluk levels were present at the meeting.
