Heavy Rain Forecast: Udupi Declares Holiday for Schools and PUC on July 24
Colleges to Operate with Precautions
Udupi, July 23, 2025: In response to a Red Alert issued by the Meteorological Department warning of intensified rainfall, the Udupi district administration has announced a holiday for all Anganwadi centres, government, aided, and private primary and high schools, as well as pre-university and ITI institutions on Wednesday, July 24. The decision was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students amid continuous rainfall across the district.
However, degree, postgraduate, diploma, and engineering colleges will remain open. The district administration has directed college authorities to take necessary safety precautions. Attendance for students has been made non-mandatory, and principals have been instructed to ensure the safe arrival and departure of students from campus.
Parents and college heads have been urged to ensure that students do not visit low-lying areas, lakes, riverbanks, or the seashore during this period. Institutions must also check the safety standards of vehicles used to transport students. Furthermore, students should be briefed on natural disaster preparedness measures, and emergency contact numbers have been shared for reporting any disaster-related issues.
