Provide Basic Infrastructure to Industrial Areas: DC Lakshmi Priya
Karwar, Feb 12, 2025: Uttara Kannada Deputy Commissioner K. Lakshmi Priya has directed officials from the Industries Department and the Urban Development Cell to ensure the provision of essential infrastructure to industrial areas in the district, facilitating their growth and development.
Chairing a Single Window Clearance Committee meeting at the DC office on Monday, she emphasized the need to address infrastructure gaps in industrial zones, including roads, water, and electricity.
During the meeting, industrialists from the Dandeli Industrial Estate raised concerns about sanitation charges being collected despite inadequate waste management, unclean drains, and poor road maintenance by local municipal authorities. Responding to these concerns, the Deputy Commissioner instructed officials to take necessary steps to prevent any shortage of essential amenities in all industrial estates across the district.
Regarding the issue of pending registration of allotted plots in the Dandeli Industrial Estate, she directed officials from the Industries Department to coordinate with land records authorities and hold a meeting within a week to resolve the matter at the earliest.
Additionally, she instructed the Environmental Department officials to conduct regular inspections of industrial zones to prevent air and water pollution in nearby residential areas.
The meeting was attended by Joint Director of Industries Jayant, Urban Development Cell Project Director Stella Varghese, District Environmental Officer Santosh, and several industrialists from the region.
