Ujire: SDM College Awards Scholarships to 15 Students
Ujire, Aug 31, 2024: SDM College, Ujire, held the 15th edition of its alumni dialogue series “SDM Nenapinangala” today, during which 15 outstanding students were awarded scholarships of ₹5,000 each. The scholarships were provided by the college’s alumni association as part of its ongoing support for the academic growth of current students.
The event featured notable alumni, including G. Tukaram Nidle, Field Publicity Officer at the Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting; Dr. B.P. Sampath Kumar, Managing Director of Excellent Educational Institutions, Moodbidri; and U.H. Khalid, Principal of National Tutorial College, Mangaluru. The alumni praised the college for its role in shaping their careers and emphasized the importance of education in building a successful future.
In his address, Tukaram Nidle reflected on his time at SDM College, recalling the institution’s well-equipped library and the opportunities it provided in various fields. Dr. Sampath Kumar highlighted the transformative power of education, comparing it to a seed that grows into a giant tree, while U.H. Khalid acknowledged the role the college played in his personal and professional growth.
The event was presided over by SDM College Principal Dr. B.A. Kumar Hegde, who emphasized the value of the alumni’s contributions, which extend beyond scholarships to support initiatives like the mid-day meal program. The principal urged students to appreciate the assistance provided by the alumni and use it to further their academic and personal development.
The event also included a felicitation ceremony for the guests, with several faculty members and alumni association representatives in attendance.
