QuidelOrtho Honors 15-Year Partnership with Kasturba Hospital Blood Center and Center of Excellence in Immunohematology
Manipal, Aug 31, 2024: QuidelOrtho, a global leader in diagnostic testing, proudly recognized more than 15 years of fruitful collaboration with the Kasturba Hospital Blood Center and its esteemed Center of Excellence (COE) in Immunohematology.
At a special event, Ms. Kripa Dsouza, Regional Director of Finance for ASPAC at QuidelOrtho, honored the COE team by presenting a memento in recognition of their long-standing partnership and contributions to advancing immunohematology in India.
Highlighting the COE’s recent achievements, Mr. Rafeeq S.M., Head of Operational Excellence and L&D – ASPAC at QuidelOrtho, praised the progress made in the past four months, stating that the advancements had brought significant benefits to patients across the country. “The impact of the center’s work is being felt nationwide,” he remarked.
Dr. Sharath Rao, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Health Sciences at Manipal Academy of Higher Education, outlined the COE’s next phase of development, emphasizing a strong focus on research in immunohematology. “Our commitment is to push the frontiers of knowledge and innovation in this vital field,” Dr. Rao said.
Dr. Shamee Shastry, Chief Coordinator of the Center of Excellence, detailed the specialized services offered at the COE, including blood group discrepancy resolution, antibody screening and identification, and antenatal antibody screening. Dr. Shastry also announced a new international collaboration with the Australian Red Cross Reference Laboratory to address complex immunohematology cases. Additionally, the center regularly organizes workshops and training programs to foster learning among professionals in the field.
The event was attended by Dr. Anand Venugopal, Chief Operating Officer of the Teaching Hospital at MAHE, Dr. Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent of Kasturba Hospital, and Mr. Krishnamurthy M., Clinical Expert from QuidelOrtho.
