Karwar, Aug 20, 2024: Uttara Kannada District in-charge minister Mankal Vaidya has issued a stern warning that strict action will be taken against officials in any government office within the district if complaints are received regarding their failure to address public grievances effectively.

Speaking at the inauguration of the district-level Janaspandana (public grievance redressal) program held at the Halakki Okkaliga community hall in Kumta taluk on Tuesday, Vaidya emphasized the importance of resolving public issues swiftly.

He stated that the Janaspandana program aims to address public grievances by bringing officials directly to the people to solve their issues on the spot, avoiding the need for citizens to run from office to office. He also stressed that all applications submitted through the program must be resolved within the specified time frame.

Highlighting the success of previous programs, Vaidya mentioned that all 323 applications received during the district-level Janaspandana programs were successfully addressed, achieving a 100% resolution rate. He encouraged the public to take full advantage of the program, ensuring their issues are resolved effectively.

Deputy Commissioner Lakshmi Priya also addressed the gathering, stressing the need for officials from relevant departments to thoroughly review each application and provide the necessary support to the public. She warned that strict action would be taken against those who display negligence in addressing the grievances.

During the public grievance review session, several complaints were raised regarding ongoing projects by the National Highway Authority. Complaints included the lack of response to repeated requests for constructing protective barriers near a bridge near Shirur and the need to open dividers at crucial points. Additionally, citizens raised concerns about rainwater entering homes due to road construction. Minister Vaidya directed authorities to inspect the sites and take immediate action.

Other public complaints included the establishment of a multi-specialty hospital in Kumta, road widening, fixing potholes, maintaining cleanliness at Kumta Taluk Administrative Building, relocating the Sub-Registrar’s office to the same building, appointing a new Tahsildar, constructing a concrete road near Mirjan, repairing Yana Road, renewing licenses for homestays, providing basic infrastructure for the Souteguli School, repairing Medini Road, and constructing a bridge over the Chandika River.

The program received over 130 public grievances. The event was attended by MLA Bhimanna Naik, MLC Shantaram Siddi, District Guarantee Implementation Authority Chairman Satish Naik, Zilla Panchayat CEO Eshwar Kumar Kandoo, Additional Deputy Commissioner Prakash Rajput, Additional Superintendent of Police Jayakumar, and various district and taluk-level officials.

On the occasion, an oath was taken as part of the Sadbhavana Diwas observance.
