MARC has been instrumental in facilitating the birth of over 10,000 babies through various procedures

Manipal, May 28, 2024 – Kasturba Hospital in Manipal has been recognized by Insights Care as one of India’s most trusted IVF and fertility centers. This accolade highlights the hospital’s significant advancements in healthcare services, medical research, and its compassionate approach to patient care.

The Manipal Assisted Reproduction Centre (MARC), which has provided 35 years of dedicated service to infertile couples, was honored during a ceremony at the Fortune Inn Valley View, Manipal, on May 27, 2024. MARC has facilitated the birth of over 10,000 babies through various assisted reproduction procedures, with the first IVF baby now 25 years old.

The Insights Care Award is a prestigious recognition for healthcare organizations demonstrating exceptional performance in advancing healthcare services, medical research, and fostering compassionate care. This award underscores institutions that have achieved excellence, innovation, and a patient-centered approach in their respective fields.

Dr. H.S. Ballal, Pro Chancellor of MAHE Manipal, presented the award, expressing pride in MARC’s achievements. “The dedication and expertise of the team have brought joy to thousands of families. This recognition by Insights Care is a testament to their hard work and compassionate care,” said Dr. Ballal. He was joined by Mr. C.G. Muthana, COO of MAHE Manipal, Dr. Anand Venugopal, COO of Teaching Hospitals, MAHE Manipal, Dr. Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent of Kasturba Hospital, and the entire MARC team.

Dr. Pratap Kumar, Professor and Head of MARC, provided an overview of the center’s journey since its inception in 1990, highlighting significant achievements in infertility treatment. MARC introduced the IVF procedure in 1998, with the first IVF baby born on February 18, 1999. Dr. Kumar emphasized MARC’s comprehensive range of treatment programs and the expertise of its doctors and scientists, who have received specialized training abroad.

Dr. Satish Adiga, Professor and Chief Embryologist at MARC, along with his team, was acknowledged for their critical role in the success of the IVF procedures. Key team members, including Dr. Prashanth K. Adiga, Dr. Anjali Suneel Mundkur, and Dr. Vidyashree G. Poojari, were also congratulated by university and hospital officials.

MARC boasts a fully equipped andrology laboratory for male subfertility evaluation, semen banking for short- and long-term storage, and an embryology laboratory meeting international standards. The center also offers laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery for fertility enhancement and oncofertility techniques.
