 International conference on ‘Empowering Minds’ concludes

Udupi, Jan 16, 2024: The Valedictory program for the three-day international conference on “Empowering Minds: Collaborative Learning Platform for Teachers, Librarians, and Researchers,” organized by the Library and Information Centre at St. Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, in collaboration with LIS Academy, Bengaluru, took place on Jan 13.

The event celebrated the culmination of two and a half days of insightful deliberations, knowledge sharing, and research presentations by educators, librarians, and researchers from across India and beyond, with a total of 240 delegates participating.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Professor MS Moodithaya, Vice Chancellor of Nitte (Deemed to be) University. Sr Dr Venissa A.C., Principal of St. Agnes College (Autonomous) Mangaluru presided over the program.

Guests of Honour included Sr M Carmel Rita A.C., Administrator of St. Agnes College, Dr Gopakumar V., Head of Knowledge Centre, Digital University Kerala, and Ganesh Pai N., President of AMUCT.

Professor MS Moodithaya emphasized the importance of a knowledge economy and collaborative learning platforms in the context of India’s demographic advantage. He stressed the need for continuous learning and adaptation to stay relevant in the twenty-first century.

Shri Ganesh Pai congratulated the college and the organizing convenor for a successful conference, while Sr Carmel Rita A.C. suggested reflections on post-conference activities. Sr Dr Venissa A.C., the President of the function, highlighted the success of the conference in fostering collaboration and diverse viewpoints.

Dr P.V. Konnur, President of LIS Academy, co-organizer of the conference, welcomed the gathering, describing the event as a convergence of brilliant minds and an excellent platform for collaborative learning and growth.

Dr Supreetha Shetty, Chief Librarian of Nitte (Deemed to be) University and Rapporteur General of the conference, delivered a comprehensive report on the proceedings, highlighting key discussions, insightful lectures by eminent academicians, and innovative ideas presented during the paper sessions. She commended the organizers for a well-conducted conference and praised the evening cultural programs for providing entertainment and informal networking opportunities.

Feedback from participants followed, with commendations for the organization, hospitality, and overall quality of the conference coming from Vasanth Raju, Principal and College Librarian at GFGC, Talakadu; Mustafa Ismail Adakana, Senior Librarian at Bayer University Karo, Nigeria; Prakash Gowda SU, Librarian at GFGC, Koppala; and Dr Jayalakshmi Kithur, GFGC, Bagalkot.

The program concluded with the hosts presenting mementoes to contributors, and the Organizing Convenor, Dr Vishala BK, expressed gratitude to all involved. The ceremony ended with the national anthem, and Mrs Malavika Adyanthaya, Assistant Professor, efficiently compered the program.
