Uttara Kannada DC Directs Preparations for Vijay Diwas Celebrations
Karwar, Dec 07, 2023: In anticipation of the upcoming Vijaya Diwas on December 16, Deputy Commissioner Gangu Bai Manakar has directed officials to ensure meaningful and successful celebrations of the event.
Speaking after presiding over a preparatory meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Karwar, she emphasized the importance of organizing the event with precision and adherence to protocol.
Traditionally held at the Naval Museum in Rabindranath Tagore Beach, Vijay Diwas commemorates the victory in the 1971 war, with this year’s celebrations scheduled for the same venue. Deputy Commissioner Manakar instructed officials to make all necessary arrangements to ensure a well-organized and dignified event.
Recognizing the pivotal role played by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force in the 1971 war, the DC directed the Department of Sainik Welfare to arrange for inspirational lectures by defense officers. These talks are aimed at enlightening the youth about the valor and sacrifices of the brave soldiers who laid down their lives in defense of the country.
During the Vijaya Diwas event, floral tributes will be paid to the statue of Param Vir Chakra Major Ram Raghoba Rane at the War Naval Museum. Additionally, there will be felicitation ceremonies for the dependents of soldiers martyred in the war, and the release of the Armed Forces Flag 2023, Deputy Director of the Department of Sainik Welfare and Rehabilitation, Captain Ramesh Rao informed.
