CELESTIA 2023 Inaugurated with Grandeur at St Agnes College
Mangaluru, October 31, 2023: The highly anticipated annual intercollegiate fest, CELESTIA 2023, kicked off with great fervor at the Auditorium of St Agnes College (Autonomous) on October 31, 2023. The inaugural ceremony witnessed a spectacular march, welcoming the esteemed chief guest, renowned actor Suman with a display of grandeur and excitement.
The procession, led by the student body and the entire Agnesian community, was a visual delight. The star-studded stage featured the chief guest, Michael M.D. from Ivory Grand Hotels, Dubai, who was the guest of honor. Also present were Sr. Dr. M. Venissa A.C., the Principal, Sr. Dr. Maria Roopa A.C., the Superior of St Agnes Convent and Joint-Secretary of St Agnes Institutions, along with the fest convener Dr. Geetha Pinto, Associate Professor from the P.G. Department of Chemistry, and the assistant co-coordinator Sabeena D’souza from the Department of Business Administration. Eminent guests and alumni from nearby institutions added to the prestigious gathering.
Dr. Geetha Pinto welcomed the gathering. Student President Shiny Pinto provided a brief overview of the day’s events. The unveiling of the grand trophy by the chief guest, symbolizing the launch of a satellite in sync with the fest’s theme and honoring the Chandrayan mission, was a highlight.
A special moment of the inaugural ceremony was the felicitation of the chief guest for his outstanding contributions to Indian cinema and philanthropy.
Dr. Vishala B.K., the Chief Librarian of the college, delivered words of felicitation. In his address, Suman praised the students and the management for organizing such a commendable event that nurtures talent and celebrates life. He fondly recalled his late mother’s connection to St. Agnes.
The chief guest also commended India for its unity in diversity and lauded the armed forces for their remarkable contributions to the nation’s safety. He noted that while many parts of the world grapple with turmoil due to war and political instability, India stands tall as a nation that champions peace and celebrates diversity.
The Principal, in her address, offered a brief insight into the institution’s vision and mission. She extended her best wishes to all participants of CELESTIA 2023 and inspired the students to believe in themselves and recognize their self-worth. Sabeena D’souza proposed the vote of thanks. A total of 53 colleges participated in the fest.
