Dr. Vidya Kumari K Assumes Office as Deputy Commissioner of Udupi District
Udupi, July 14, 2023: Dr. Vidya Kumari K assumed office as the Deputy Commissioner of Udupi district today. The outgoing DC, Kurma Rao, formally handed over the charge to her.
Hailing from Pavoor village in Ullal Taluk, Vidya Kumari received her primary education in Mangaluru before pursuing a postgraduate degree in Kannada from Mangalore University.
Having garnered valuable experience as the probationary in Chitradurga sub division, Vidya Kumari went on to hold key positions in various government bodies. Notably, she served as the Council Secretary of Mysuru Corporation, Secretary of Mysuru Urban Development Authority, Joint Director of the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), and Deputy Secretary of the Medical Education Department.
She notably served as the General Manager of the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC), Joint Commissioner of the Tourism Department, Additional Deputy Commissioner (DC) of both Kolar and Udupi districts, before her appointment as the Additional Regional Commissioner of the Bengaluru Sub Division.
Vidya Kumari’s academic accomplishments include a Doctorate obtained from Hampi University. In 2021, she was promoted to the position of IAS officer. Additionally, she has served as the CEO of Tumakuru Zilla Panchayat.
