Srinivas University Institute of Engineering & Technology Hosts ‘Kalaspandana – 23’
Mangaluru, July 12, 2023: Srinivas University Institute of Engineering & Technology (SUIET) recently witnessed a vibrant celebration of culture and talent with the grand event “Kalaspandana – 23.” The cultural extravaganza took place at SUIET’s premises and featured a lineup of captivating performances and competitions.
Manohar S. Shetty, Chairman & Managing Director of Sai Radha Group inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
In his inaugural address, Shri Manohar S. Shetty applauded the management, faculty, staff, and students of SUIET for organizing the Cultural Extravaganza “Kalaspandana – 23.” He emphasized the importance of student participation in cultural competitions to nurture their leadership skills and cultural abilities.
Manohar Shetty stressed the need for youth to preserve and promote the rich heritage and culture of Tulu Nadu while serving society. Encouraging entrepreneurship, he urged the youth to achieve success through determination, concentration, and hard work. Shetty expressed his best wishes to the participants and organizers of Kalaspandana – 23.
Dr. Thomas Pinto, Dean of Srinivas University Institute of Engineering & Technology, presided over the program, while Dr. Netravati P. S., Associate Dean of SUIET Mukka, was the Guest of Honour.
Dr. Thomas Pinto, in his presidential address, congratulated the students for their efforts in organizing the program. He highlighted the significance of Tulunadu and Karnataka’s cultural traditions, inspiring everyone to promote fine arts, culture, and heritage.
The event’s convener, Prof. K. Shrinath Rao, and student coordinator, Sannidhi Shetty, joined the dignitaries on the stage. Dr. Netravati P. S. delivered the welcome address, followed by Prof. K. Shrinath Rao presenting an overview of “Kalaspandana” and introducing the Chief Guest and other honored guests.
The prize distribution ceremony recognized the winners of various competitions held throughout the week, including Punarutthana (Best out of waste), Madarangi, Chitranjali, Atil (Cooking without fire), Bindu Rekha, Mukhaa Mukhi (Mock Press), and Singing. Shri Manohar S. Shetty presented the prizes to the deserving winners.
Following the formal program, students enthralled the audience with captivating cultural performances on stage. The theme for Kalaspandana – 23 was “Parampara” (Divinity of Traditional Culture). The valedictory program held in the evening featured the distribution of cash prizes, certificates, and trophies to the winners.
Renowned artist, cine actress, and dancer Shailashree Mulki, along with artist and dancer Swathi Sanjeev Poojary, served as the esteemed judges for the cultural variety competitions.
Prof. Rohan Fernandes conveyed the vote of thanks and Vaishnavi Shenoy and Neha Karunakar compered the program. Shrinidhi led the invocation.
The cultural extravaganza was witnessed by Agari Raghavendra Rao, Proprietor of Agari Enterprises, Surathkal, Prof. Thanmayee Susheel, and Prof. Swarna H. R., the co-conveners of Kalaspandana, as well as heads of various departments, faculty members, staff, and enthusiastic students.
