Manipal: Asare Celebrates 15th Anniversary
Asare is a joint project of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education MAHE and Archana Trust
Manipal, July 02, 2023: Asare, a renowned institution providing a home, school, and rehabilitation center for children with autism and learning disorders, commemorated its 15th anniversary on Thursday in Manipal. The esteemed establishment, a collaborative effort between Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and Archana Trust, has been a haven for specially-abled children since its inception.
The event was graced by the presence of Chief Guest Dr. H S Ballal, Pro Chancellor of MAHE, who inaugurated the newly developed play area. In his address, he emphasized the core philosophy of Asare, stating, “Specially-abled children don’t seek sympathy or compassion; they yearn for opportunities to discover themselves. Asare was established with precisely this purpose in mind.”
Lt. Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor of MAHE was the Guest of Honor.
A moment of added significance unfolded when Akshay M Hakay, Superintendent of Police, Udupi, inaugurated a mock-up room within Asare, offering an additional facility to cater to the children’s needs. Moved by the arrangements and efforts put forth by Asare, he expressed his joy and extended his best wishes to the institution and the children receiving occasional training.
Ramesh Naik, Senior Special Educator, presented the report for the year 2022-2023, outlining Asare’s remarkable journey and its relentless pursuit of its mission. He welcomed the gathering and said that Asare has always been on a mission.
“Since our establishment in 2008, our goal has been to provide support and a safe environment for these exceptional individuals—a mission we continue to pursue with unwavering dedication,” he added.
The celebration was marked by captivating performances. Dhanush mesmerized the audience with his soulful rendition while accompanied by a mobile special child from Byndoor. Archana, an international athlete, graced the stage with Bharatanatyam performance, leaving the audience enthralled.
Dr. H S Ballal, Pro Chancellor, and Lt. Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor, MAHE, took part in the inauguration of a Paper Plate Making Machine, symbolizing their steadfast support for Asare. Notable dignitaries from MAHE, including Dr. Narayana Sabhahit, Pro Vice Chancellor (Technology & Science), Dr. N N Sharma, Pro Vice Chancellor (Strategy & Planning), and Dr. P. Giridhar Kini, Registrar, MAHE, were also present to witness the occasion.
Jai Vittal skillfully compered the program, while Col. Prakash Chandra, Convenor of Asare, thanked all those who contributed for the success of the event. T Ranga Pai, a Trustee of ASARE trust, delivered the vote of thanks.
