CM Bommai announces Rs 5 crore for Allamaprabhu’s birthplace development
Bommai unveils 51-foot-tall statue of Shivasharane Akkamahadevi
Shivamogga, March.17, 2023: In a move towards preserving cultural heritage and promoting the development of the region, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has announced the release of Rs 5 crore for the development of Allamaprabhu’s birthplace.
This announcement was made during his visit to Udutadi, where he unveiled a 51-foot-tall statue of Shivasharane Akkamahadevi, inaugurated a Yatra place on the lines of Akshara Dham and various development works in Shikaripura Assembly constituency.
The CM also promised to release a grant of Rs 10 crore towards the PG building of the Women’s University and development of Shivanapaada for Rs 10 crore. In his speech, he emphasized his commitment to develop the region in the fields of agriculture, education, and spirituality, making it a model taluk.
Bommai also lauded the efforts of former CM Yediyurappa, who has contributed immensely to the development of Shikaripura constituency. He noted that Yediyurappa has provided Rs 600 crore for the development of Basava Kalyana, Rs 45 crore for Kanakadasa’s Kaginele, and Rs 14 crore for the development of Baada including the fort and the palace. The decision to celebrate Valmiki Jayanti also goes to him.
The CM further highlighted the significance of the Sharana kula culture and how it started from this region and spread across the State. He praised Yediyurappa’s efforts to link Shikaripura with Basava Kalyana and continue the revolution started by the Shivasharanas in the 12th century.
Sri Murugharajendra Swamiji of Anandapura, Yediyurappa, Ministers Govind Karjol, B.A.Basavaraj, MLC Kumar Bangarappa, MP B.Y.Raghavendra, and others were present during the announcement.
