Udupi, Jan 15, 2023: Devotees thronged to participate in the Churnotsava and Avabritha Snana (the Holy bath) at Udupi Sri Krishna Matha on Saturday.

Churnotsava or Suvarnotsava, held on the day after Makara Sankramana marks the conclusion of the ‘Sapthotsava,’ celebration.

Paryaya Peetadhipathi Sri Vidya Sagara Tirtha Sripadaru (Krishnapura Matha), Sri Vidyadheesha Tirtha Sripadaru (Palimaru Matha senior pontiff), Sri Vishwaprasanna Tirtha Sripadaru (Pejawara Matha), Sri Vidyavallabha Tirtha Sripadaru (Kaniyoor Matha), Sri Vishwavallabha Tirtha (Sode Matha), Sri Eeshapriya Tirtha Sripadaru (Adamaru Matha) Sri Vidyarajeshwara Tirtha (Palimaru Matha junior pontiff) participated. 

After the Pooja on the Chariot, coins, sweets, and fruits were distributed to the devotees. After the Rathotsava, Utsava Murthi was taken for the ‘Avabritha Snana,’ at Sri Madhwa Sarovara. Devotees participate in large numbers to have the holy dip at the pond. 

Before the Anna Santharpane, Sri Vidya Sagara Tirtha Sripadaru offered ‘Palla Pooje,’ to the rice. 

Although the annual ‘Saptotsava,’ ends today, the daily Utsavas including Saptotsava offered by devotees in the form of seva will continue till Bhagirathi Jayanthi.
