Expert PU College: Annual sports day held
Mangaluru, Nov 29, 2022: “Sports help us maintain a healthy body and mind. Dedicate some time to sports along with academics. They are not a distraction from studies, instead will prepare the students better,” said Rishikesh B Sonawane, Superintendent of Police, Dakshina Kannada District.
He was speaking at the inaugural event of the annual sports day of Expert P.U College, Kodialbail. The event was held at Mangala Stadium, Mangaluru.
Prof Ramachandra Bhat, Principal of the college welcomed the dignitaries.
“Sports teach discipline, competitiveness, and setting up goals. Sports not only ensure physical and mental fitness but also reduce the diversity among people and bring them together to achieve greatness,” he said.
Sports secretary of the Students union Laksha Rai led the March Past and also administered the oath.
Prof Narendra L Nayak, Chairman, Expert Group of Institutions presided over the function. Dr. Ushaprabha N. Nayak, Vice Chairperson, Expert Group of Institutions, and Ankush N Nayak, Director of Information and Technology were present.
Zita D’Souza, HOD of the English department, compered the inaugural ceremony.
The valedictory ceremony was held in the evening with Shashank J Rai, International basketball player as the chief guest. “Give importance to physical fitness along with curriculum can contribute to the all-round development of a student,” he said.
Shaina Rebello of Batch KIC bagged the individual championship (girls). Mayur H R of Batch K2D bagged individual championship (boys).
Batch K2H of II PUC won the prize for march-past. Batch K2D of II PUC won the overall championship trophy.
Prof Narendra L Nayak congratulated all the winners and participants of the sports. Ujwal Pradeep, the lecturer in biology, compered the valedictory ceremony. Pramod Kini, the program director, delivered the vote of thanks.
