Swachhta Pakhwada from Sept 16
Mangaluru, Sept 15, 2022: Swachhta Pakhwada – the Two-Week long cleanliness campaign under the ‘Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat’ program will commence on Sept 16, 2022.
In Palakkad Division, the campaign will begin with the administering of the Swachhata pledge by Trilok Kothari, Divisional Railway Manager at the Divisional Railway Manager’s Office, Palakkad at 10.45 am
The cleanliness program is being conducted to improve cleanliness at railway establishments and on trains. Special focus will be given to the cleanliness of tracks at stations and the elimination of plastic waste in railway premises. Extensive awareness campaigns will be made to educate people about the use of bio-toilets, avoiding single-use plastic, and observing cleanliness habits.
The campaign will conclude on Gandhi Jayanti.
As part of ensuring cleanliness, strict action will be initiated against those who litter the Railways premises.
Under the railway act, littering, spitting, urinating, defacing walls of stations, etc are punishable offenses. Violation may cause a penalty/ imprisonment of up to 6 months.
