Udupi district to get ‘Namma Clinics’
Udupi, Aug 28, 2022: ‘Namma Clinics’ will soon start functioning in six places of Udupi district.
Of the six, 3 clinics will be set up in Udupi City Municipality limits, 2 in Kundapura Town Municipality area, and 1 in Karkala Town Municipality limits. The recruitment process is underway.
To provide better and speedy health services to the public in urban areas, the state government has come up with the idea of ‘Namma clinics,’ across the state. Udupi will have six such clinics shortly.
The government intends to provide comprehensive primary healthcare services to the urban public.
Namma Clinic is an effort to ensure high-quality and continuous health care. They aim to provide connectivity of referral services to hospitals and also to strengthen the surveillance system of communicable diseases along with decentralizing primary health services in urban areas.
Every clinic will have one doctor, a nurse, one lab technician, and one D-group staff. Free health check-ups for citizens and necessary medicines will be distributed here. As many as 12 different types of health services and 14 different types of laboratory services will be provided in the lab, including blood and urine tests. These clinics will function from 9 am to 4.30 pm. e-Sanjeevini and tele-counseling will also be available for those in need of further treatment.
“Namma clinic will help people to maintain good health. The clinics will soon be opened in the district and doctors and staff will be made available for public healthcare in urban areas,” Nagabhushan Udupa, District Health, and Family Welfare Officer, Udupi District said.
