Karnataka issues new rules on loudspeakers
Bengaluru, May 10, 2022: Following the Azan Vs Bhajan issue in the state, the Karnataka government has issued a fresh circular in connection to the loudspeaker on Tuesday.
As per the new circular, that would come into force with immediate effect, all existing users of loud speakers/ public address systems and sound-producing instruments should obtain written permission from the Designated Authority within 15 days.
Those who do not obtain permission should voluntarily remove loud speakers / public address systems and sound-producing instruments or else the same shall be removed by the Designated authority within 15 days from the deadline given.
The government has constituted a committee for granting permission.
A Committee is constituted at different levels comprising the following members to decide the application seeking permission for use of the Loud Speaker/Public Address System in accordance with the provisions of the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control ) Rules, 2000.
Commissionerate Areas: Assistant Commissioner of Police, Jurisdictional Executive Engineer of the City Corporation, and a representative of the Pollution Control Board.
In all other areas: Dy. SP, the jurisdictional Tahsildar, and a representative of the Pollution Control Board
