Central Govt’s nod for Punjalkatte-Charmadi stretch widening

Mangaluru, March 24, 2022: The Central Government has approved Rs 718 crore for the widening (four-laning) of Punjalkatte-Charmadi stretch in Belthangady Taluk.

“Based on the request of MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, the central government has approved Rs 718 for the four-laning of the 35 km stretch from Punjalkatte to Charmadi on NH 73,” a press statement from MP’s office stated.

Nalin has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, and Minister of Road Transport and Highway Nitin Gadkari.

The government has already widened the stretch from BC Road to Punjalkatte. Now the government has approved for the widening and four-laning of the remaining stretch till Charmadi Ghat. Widening of this stretch was a longstanding demand and Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja was keen on making this a reality.
