Division of Surgical Gastroenterology inaugurated at Kasturba Medical College & Hospital
Manipal, March 16, 2022: Division of Surgical Gastroenterology was inaugurated at Kasturba Medical College and Hospital- Manipal.
Dr. Vivek Mangla, Director – Gastrointestinal and Hepatopancreatobiliary, Surgical Oncology at Max Super Specialty Hospital, New Delhi was the Chief Guest of the program.
“The Division of Surgical Gastroenterology started in the 1980s, gradually developed in metro cities. It is very nice to launch in semi-urban cities like Manipal, with this now one of the organ-based specialties available to the societies at the doorstep,” he said in his inaugural address.
Dr. Nagaraj Palankar, Chief Consultant and Head, Department of Surgical Gastroenterology, Manipal Hospital Bengaluru, who was the Guest of Honor defined KMC hospital as an institution providing health care needs to the large areas of people, not only Karnataka but also Kerala, Goa, and other neighboring states.
In his Presidential address Lt. Gen. (Dr) M D Venkatesh, Vice-Chancellor, MAHE, Manipal spoke about the importance of starting new specialities and sub-specialities.
Dr. P L N G Rao, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Medical and Dental Sciences), was the Guest of Honor of the program.
Dr. Sharath Kumar Rao, Dean, KMC, welcomed the gathering. Dr. Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent, Kasturba Hospital Manipal, delivered the vote of thanks. Dr. Bharath K Bhat, Incharge Division of Surgical Gastroenterology, gave an overview. Dr. Sridevi K N, Assistant Professor compered the program.
