Women SHG products in e-commerce platform shortly: Dr Ashwathnarayan
Mangaluru, March 03, 2022: The Karnataka government will develop an e-commerce platform for the products produced by the Women Self Help Groups (SHGs) in the state.
“Women’s SHGs are producing various products and are making good business. To ensure that there is no misappropriation all the transactions are being digitized. Meanwhile, to help the WSHGs get a good market we will shortly have an understanding with e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart,” Skill Development Minister Dr. CN Ashwathnarayan said.
He was speaking at the convention of women members of ‘Sanjeevini’ organized as part of International Women’s Day at Mangaluru Town Hall.
“The aim of the National Rural Livelihood Promotion Society- Sanjeevini- is to ensure the SHGs have a minimum annual income of Rs 1 lakh. The book writers in the SHGs are being provided banking training. Shortly mobile banking will be started,” he added.
Gowdowns will be set up in every Gram Panchayat in the state to store the products produced by the SHGs. Works are in progress in many places. In other places too the government will take up the construction work.
About 20 lakh women are members of SHGs in the state. Of these Dakshina Kannada district is leading with 62 thousand members.
