Mangaluru, Dec 12, 2021: A fisherman from Andhra Pradesh was tortured and assaulted by a group of fishermen from the nearby boat at Mangaluru Old Port.

Based on a complaint Police have arrested six fishermen, all hailing from Andhra Pradesh.

Background:
The victim Vaila Sheenu, of Prakasham district of Andhra Pradesh, had been to a nearby boat ‘John Shailesh-2’ on Dec 14. The next day six laborers from that boat waylaid Sheenu and questioned him about a missing mobile.
They blamed him for stealing the mobile and took him along with them.

The incident:
The Kidnapped Sheenu and took him to their boat. They tied his legs and hung him upside down. They started beating Sheenu with their hands and chain. They wanted to murder Sheenu in the sea.
However, the nearby people came to the rescue of Sheenu.

Case:
A case was filed at South Police Station in Mangaluru on Dec 21 under IPC Sections 143 147 148 323 324 307 364 342 506 read with 149.

Based on the complaint the police the six accused.
The arrested are identified as

Karpingari Ravi (27), Kaatangari Manohar (21), Avula Raj Kumar (26), Pralaya Kaveri Govindayya, Vutukori Jalayya (30) and Konduru Polayya (23).
