Passenger from Ghana tests positive, shifted to Wenlock hospital
Samples sent for genomic sequencing
Mangaluru, Dec 17, 2021: A passenger from the Republic of Ghana tested positive during Rapid RT-PCR at Mangaluru International Airport on Dec 16. He has been shifted to the isolation ward at Wenlock Hospital.
Officials said that the passenger had arrived at Mangaluru International Airport on Thursday and tested positive during the Rapid RT-PCR test. As the passenger was from Ghana, considered a high-risk country, he was immediately shifted to the isolation ward at Wenlock Hospital. The samples have been sent to Bengaluru for genomic sequencing.
The passengers in the three front rows and three back rows of the passenger in the flight are considered as the primary contacts. They are under quarantine.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra KV held a meeting at Mangaluru Airport with senior officials including Chief Airport Officer Nirav Shah, Covid Nodal Officer Dr. H Ashok, Airline Station Managers, Terminal Managers, and Immigration officers.
